My Baby's Last Day of Preschool

Today Gia completed her first year of preschool.
I'm amazed at how much she has grown since September, and how well she has done.  If she could have, she would have gone 5 days a week because she loved it that much.

Here's the comparison shot from her first day and her last day...

Today was the end of the year ice cream social.  The kids have been so excited about it all week.

Which is why I really didn't expect Gia to get so emotional and upset!  I think she finally realized she won't be going back to school next week, and she'll miss all of her friends and teachers.  She cried her little heart out!

So sad to be leaving
We were able to distract her by asking her to show us around the room.  She was proud to show us everything from her class.

Here she is with two of her favorite teachers.  She'll miss them so much!

We feel so lucky to have found such a wonderful school for the girls.  The teachers are so caring and really develop a great relationship with the kids.
It was an emotional day for us all, but then on the way home, this happened...

totally unprompted!
It turned out to be a wonderful day!

It Was a Happy Mother's Day

Mother's day is a bitter sweet time for me as I lost my Mom and miss her dearly.  However, these little angels make everything right with the world.

They both woke up bursting with excitement, screaming "Happy  Mother's Day!".  They showered me with hugs and kisses.  We had some fun in the kitchen, making a special breakfast treat.  Later in the day we all went to the movies together, and then out for ice cream.
The whole day was so precious.  I'm so blessed with this family, and I truly am a "Happy Mother", today and always.

All About Gia

Lately Gia has been asking for a short hair cut.  If you know anything about this child, you know she is determined, and strong willed to say the least.  We tried to gently talk her out of it, to no avail.
I figure it's only hair, it'll grow back, no big deal, and off to the hairdresser we go.

You should have seen her, my big girl, hopping up in that chair telling the hairdresser (Christi) exactly what she wanted.  Even Christi, who was a bit nervous about it, said "how about we just cut this much".  Nope, Gia wouldn't have it.  She wanted it "short!".

OK then, deep breath, here we go!

She was so proud, giggling the whole time.  She loved it, except one thing...we quickly realized that some how Gia thought her hair would be straight when it was done.  She kept saying "it needs more brushing" and "I don't like my plume".  Her plume is the big curl in the front of her hair.  Oh boy!  What do we do now?  I explained to her that there was really no way we could get rid of her curl in the front, except by putting a barrette in her hair.  Then she was fine, phew!

after
I should mention that the hubby is NOT happy about this new do.  You know how guys are about long hair, especially on their daughters.  All I can say is hey, it's only hair.  It's going to grow back fast because her hair always grows like a weed!  And, she's just as cute with short hair as she was with long hair.  She's a little princess.
Then, as if she wasn't already growing up way too fast, yesterday was her first school field trip!  I can't believe my baby is old enough to have a field trip.
Look how cute she was at the bowling alley...

I love those tiny bowling shoes!
Daddy was there to help
Just so precious.  When did my baby grow up?  Where did the time go?
These are precious moments.
